Who I Am

A twenty-something, a traveler, a taster, a foodie, a doofus! I cook as much as I can, mostly in a frenzy, and I devote an unbelievable amount of time to daydreaming and scheming about food, wellness, and health of the mind/body. I spent the last two years living in New Mexico and after deciding I didn’t want to play grocery store anymore, I made the commitment to return to Oregon to finish my undergrad degree. But I took a little detour first to eat my way through SE Asia…

I was born and raised in the beautiful but moldy city of Portland, OR and developed a love for edible things at a young age. This love was augmented by the fertile abundance of the Willamette valley, which provides fresh, local produce and meats year-round. It only helped that I was born into a family of food and party lovers, and as I grew older I found my way into other families and networks of friends that appreciated the finer indulgences as I did (chicken liver pate, pot roast, fried kim chi, homemade pickles, salt, bitter cocktails – just to name a few). I try to find those people wherever I go.

This blog is my desire (and need) to express my food life somewhere – to myself, to others, to the cyberspace information amoeba – any medium that allows me to articulate my life in love with cooking and health through food. I have no trajectory for this project, and I will see where it goes from here. My only plan is to keep cooking, keep eating, and always be sharing food and family with the people I love (and if I ever get too old or senile to do those things, please shoot me).
